 Yes I know BASI has problems; as far as I have been able to work out, there
 is no solution given the resolution of the XGP.  Making that case work would
 just screw up something else.  However, you are welcome to experiment
 yourself...  Although you shouldn't change the widths of characters unless
 necessary and certainly not without warning the users.  (Because compiled
 documents won't be justified right anymore.)
